First Wednesdays in Three European Capitals
We have our roots in London, but as cannabis reform and the opportunities it presents spread across Europe, so does our First Wednesdays network.
The European industry needs a platform for new cannabis entrepreneurs, as well as pioneers, to exchange new ideas not just among themselves, but with the many stakeholders in and adjacent to the cannabis space. In May, for the first time, we hosted First Wednesdays events in three cities: London, Paris and Amsterdam.
We're excited to be hosting two events in our flagship location this June. London First Wednesdays will take place as usual on June 5th, hosted by Bird & Bird. Drinks will follow a panel discussion entitled Investing in the Future of Cannabis in the UK : Lessons from the German Model.
An additional special edition of First Wednesdays will take place June 26th as a part of the first European Cannabis Week. This celebration of one year of First Wednesdays will feature a special panel presentation, and is sure to be one of the highlights of the year thanks to the many international attendees flooding to London for this unprecedented week of events.
This February, France was the second city to join the First Wednesdays network. Despite the French government’s current confusing approach to CBD shops, entrepreneurship is still blossoming, as we saw evidence of at Cannabis Europa Paris. Additionally, France is still the second largest producer of hemp in the world, producing ¼ of the world’s supply.
Recently, the Syndicat Professionnel du Chanvre helped us lead an illuminating night on Avenue des Champs-Élysées. French cannabis investment company BeCann is the sponsor for First Wednesdays Paris this June 5th, hosting at Nest 34.
It seemed fitting to bring the network that started in London-- Europe’s modern hub for cannabis business-- to Amsterdam, the historical heart of the European cannabis industry. This is thanks to a partnership with Dutch industry leaders, the organisers of the Cannabis Capital Convention.
When asked why he wanted to bring First Wednesdays to Amsterdam, local host Michael Kraland said, “Because they should have launched it here first, but they’re Londoners!”
Next week’s June event will take place at the Eye Film Museum, sponsored by Swiss CBD company Cibdol.
